Yamaha RX-V2500 Analog LFE-Boost

Is it possible to boost the lfe (analog) on this receiver. The manual says that the level of each input (including the multi-channel) can be done, but no mention on whether the levels of the individual inputs of the multi-channel can be increased.

The level of the lfe can be altered digitally, but normally, analog signals can't. Does anyone who owns or is familiar with this receiver know if this can be done? Sometimes there are ways to do something that the manual does not indicate.

The reason I am asking this question is that the lfe on Blu-ray disc are encoded 10 db lower than the other channels. If the codecs are decoded by the receiver, the lfe is automatically boosted 10 db to compensate for this. If the codec is decoded in a Blu-ray player and then sent via analog cables to the reciever, it is not boosted by the player. Most player have no method of raising the lfe to a level to match the other channels. If only the lfe (analog) input could be raised a few db on the receiver, the problem would be solved. Also, the digital setting on the receiver would not have to be altered for audio being decoded by the receiver.

Any advice on this issue will be appreciated.

This reminds me of the same issue that plagued DVD-A/SACD via analog transmission. I see now it has crept into Blu ray when decoded in the player. Most of the newer Denon receivers offer a +10 to +15dB boose via the multi channel inputs for the sub. I don't believe your Yamaha RX-V2500 has that option. Its been awhile since we reviewed it but you may want to check our review.

If the receiver has more than one memory setting, you should run a separate calibration and recall it when using your Blu-ray player. Thanks for bringing this issue up and I hope this helps.
