Yamaha RX V2500 (6-8 ohms) and 4 ohms speakers

I am planning to buy a Yamaha RX V2500, but the manual does not include a 4 ohms option, only 6 and 8 ohms.
SYSTEM AUDIO 1050 speakers are 150 watts each and only 4 ohms. Is there a problem? Can they work fine together?

I think you can get by with the 6 ohm setting. For an AVR, the 2500 has a fairly good amp section. I have one myself. Mine got fairly warm when playing at loud volumes so I added a fan to keep things cool. Another option would be to add an external amp if you have the funds. I went that route and was very happy with the results.

The amp section in the RXV2500 is pretty robust for a "mid/hi-fi" receiver. I don't think you'll have any problems. The sensitivity is pretty good on these speakers. Specs can be deceiving though. Lord knows how fluffy they are and if there is any severe impedance dips anywhere in the frequency response.

lifted form another forum:
Power handling: 150W per speaker
Impedance: 4 Ohms
Frequency response(+/-4 dB): 35-22000Hz
Sensitivity(1W, 1m): 91dB
Speaker principle: 2-way / Bass reflex
Crossover Frequency: 3000Hz / High Slope
Biwring: Yes
Sand chamber: Yes

The RXV2500 has a fan that turns on if the temp gets to high. You can also turn the fan setting on the 2500 to run whenever the receiver is on. It's in the advanced settings. I have a 2500 and it did run a little warm but it's not in a well ventilated area.

I had forgotten about that. My internal fan doesn't work. I remember trying to get it going about a year ago.

Depending on your prefered volume level, you should be fine. Set the impedance setting to 8 ohm and check the top of the receiver for excessive heat at high volumes.
The Yamahas are not recomended for 4 ohms but the amps in that 2500 are very good.
