Hi all,
Great forum...I have learned so much here....

Ok so I have a Yamaha RX-V1500 receiver, Yamaha DVD player,
and a complete set of Monitor Audio RS8s. I purchased the HT system about 6 months ago. So far everything has been great...awesome sound, pretty easy setup.

Last night everything was working fine....this morning when i powered on the receiver the lights came on it clicked and then shut off. After searching online and going through he manual i concluded that i had a short in my speaker wire or the power cord was not pushed in all the way. So I began unhooking the speakers and components one by one followed by unplugging the receiver for 30 sec plugging it back in and trying again. Unfortunately i have unhooked everything, set the volume to MUTE and have it set on stereo. And guess what.....it still does not work. The only thing that has happened different in the last week was that my right surround started to pop a little (clicking sound) when I turned on or off the receiver, which has never happened before.

Any Ideas?

I know this sounds wierd but it has happened to me....

Just check the actual plug in in the back of the reciever. I have the 2500 and mine has been loose twice, not making a solid connection with the 2 prongs on the connector of the reciever. It sounds like you may have more going on with the popping but just check this to be sure. Good Luck!!!!

Thanks for the tip.....it does get a little loose but I did make sure it was secure (many times)....still does not work. I think I will call the cervice center tomorrow and see when I can take it in.

Thanks again

Sure sounds like an internal short. If it lights up initially, then it is not the plug.
