I'm planning on setting up this older AV receiver. Will I loose amplification to my speakers by simply plugging in headphones to the jack.I want to use the headphone jack to supply a source for a Logitech 5.1 system being used outside by the grill(I do this now with my current receiver). But want the speakers to remain on inside.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

According to the owner's manual for the RX-V1000, the speakers will be shut off if you plug in headphones. You have some options, though:
  1. If you want the Logitech's to be controlled by the volume control on the Yamaha, you could connect the Logitech's using the pre-amp outputs on the back of the Yamaha.
  2. If you don't care about controlling the volume of the Logitech's using the volume control on the Yamaha, then you could connect the Logitech's using the Zone 2 outputs (stereo only). That way, you can play something different outside versus what you have playing inside.
  3. If controlling the volume using the Yamaha isn't important, and playing something different isn't important, then you could connect the Logitech's using one of the other audio outputs (e.g. "VCR1" outputs)
As a note, I don't think that you'll be able to play any sources connected using digital audio inputs unless you go with option 1. I didn't read the manual thoroughly enough to check on that, though.

Problem,I can't get enough voltage out of the Yamaha's pre amp out's to get much volume out of the Logitech 5.1 system. The signal is running through 50' of 3/26 AWG Tigercable from the receiver to the Logitech. It blasted volume with the old receiver/headphone jack configuration using the same wire.

Is there any easy way to change the Yamaha's headphone circuit from shutting off the signal to the amps when the headphone jack is inserted?Silly it does it.There are speaker A/B on-off buttons.

Any ideas?
