Yamaha RX-A860 Receiver Front Presence Speaker Question

Does anyone know if I plug the same pair of speakers into the Front Speaker Presence inputs will they sound any different than if I plug the same pair of speakers into the standard Front Speaker inputs?

I am trying to compare/test 2 different pairs of front speakers and would like to use the menu to toggle between the two. This would be in absense of either unplugging/replugging the different speakers in the same front speaker inputs or using a standalone speaker switch.

My setup:

Yamaha RX-A860 Aventage AVR
Polk Audio RT 400 Tower Speaker Pair
B&W CM6 S2 Bookcase Speaker Pair
B&W CM Centre 2 S2 Center Speaker
JL Audio Dominion 10" Sub

The front presence speakers carry a processed signal for Yamaha’s proprietary DSP effects. So yes, you can expect them to sound different from the standard front speaker outputs. The exception would be a 7-channel stereo mode, which I believe sends the same signal to all speakers.

Wayne
