Zone 2 connections
The easiest was to connect the Zone 2 speakers on your receivers is through the assignable zone 2 amplifier. Your receiver has an assignable amplifier that can be used for the surround back speakers (7.1) or zone 2 speakers. Using the the impedence matching volume controls will cause the receiver to see an 8 ohm impedence, even though 2 or 4 sets of speakers are connected. Just make sure the jumper is set on each control.
Concerning 2 channel background music in the den, your mains should provide this while the same (or different) music is piped to zone 2. Another mode on your receiver is to send the stero music to all 5.1 sepakers in the den.
If you really want the sound out of only the ceiling speakers in your den, you would have to connect the surrounds to the surround speaker outputs AND the speaker B outputs via a speaker selection switch.
