Good morning,

Can I use YAMAHA R-N303D like Network Player. I mean to connect R-N303D to my existing amplifier and use only just as network player? As I understood there are one RCA line out for this, but will it work properly?

I am also thinking about NP-S303, but the price is aprox the same as R-N303D.

Thanks.

The R-N303D has no pre-outs for use with an external amp, rca lineout level is fixed (won't change with volume) so not really suited for such.

Thanks for answers. In this case better to buy S303 or other network player.

The S303 has the same issue. If you need to have volume control, you will need a network player which also acts as a pre-amp, or you will need an actual pre-amp so you have volume control.

Geez, took me way too long to find this...

The WXC-50 is a MusicCast pre-amp from Yamaha. If you are going with MusicCast, then this is the product specifically to use.

Also, I would look at the Sonos as a viable option. The Port is their current version of the Connect, and includes integrated volume control (from your phone/PC).

I'm sure there are is a long list of other possibilities as well.

Understood, thank you. Do i need to have special inputs on amplifier for volume control from WXC-50?
And as i understood well, if to use S303 or RN 303D i'll be able to control volume on amplifier and on portable device as Android iOs connected to S303 or RN 303D? Or only localy on ampifier?

Your amplifier needs to have standard RCA inputs, or some similar connection. I'm not sure what amplifier you are using as you haven't said at this point. Nor what speakers you are using with your system. It concerns me that you want to use an external amplifier when you aren't sure how to make connection to it. The integrated amplifier in the N303 is quite good. Just connect it directly to your speakers.

With the S303 and N303, there is no apparent way to control volume. The audio output level will be fixed for all sources. You would be limited to manually adjusting the volume on the amplifier itself.

Only the WXC-50 is designed as a true preamp which has integrated volume control in the unit.

Thank you. I am using TEAC RA 600, quite old amplifier. And Yamaha NS 515 F speakers.

If you call that an integrated amplifier it is more useful to us (but always mentioning the specific make/model of any gear that's involved is even better). When we see just "amplifier" we tend to think of power amplifier only....

Noted. I am just very "green" in this things.
For example I connect S303 to my TEAC AR600, adjust volume, connect with Android phone to S303 and listen songs from Spotify. Volume control will be available from Android phone "Spotify"? Or it will be only localy on amp?

While my android phone can control volume on my Spotify Connect enabled devices (or even my Chromecast Audio units), I generally just max it out on the android and use the volume controls on the system I'm casting it to.

Do you already have the S303 or the other pieces?

You already own an integrated amplifier. So, all your volume should be controlled from that unit. Which means you should connect sources to it which have only the features you want or need. That leads us back to the WXC-50 being the proper device to connect to your A-R600.

The reality is that the R-N303D is a very similar integrated amplifier and if you are looking to get some updated functionality in a single unit, then if you go with the R-N3030D, then you should no longer use the A-R600. Both are basically the same product. I wouldn't call the A-R600 significantly better, or worse, overall. It's an extremely parallel product, but years older.

If you are determined to use the Teac piece, and want to use it long term, then pair it with the WXC-50.

Be brutally aware: Volume control is inside the Teac for best results. If you are using the Teac, you are NOT going to get best results by adjusting the volume in an external playback device. You also will need the volume turned way up on the Teac so that you can have good adjustment range.

If you use the R-N303D, then you will replace the Teac in favor of a modernized audio integrated amplifier that will give you network control of volume along with all the other integrated streaming features of the product.

I would ditch the Teac.

If I was ever thinking about attaching all this to a viewing environment, I would get an AV receiver over a stereo receiver and start with something that could get me towards an end goal.
