They claimed "pure class A". 20 WPC, for $6,450, better be class A. For about the same money or a little less, a made in Japan Denon integrated at least offers 50 WPC lol..., no VU meters though.

Yes, it is pure class A. It is picking the pockets of the audiophools.
It was not always this way.
AR Sugden produced this integrated A21 class A amp in 1967. The same amp was also issues under the Richard Allen label. They were very popular.
There were huge numbers of these produced. My sister owns one from early production and it has been in constant use since.
Sugden are still basically producing this amp, but its styling has been modernized. It now costs thousands, whereas for many years it was a very good value for money product.
