Yamaha MX-2 + JBL 4412 = Bad ?

Hello .

I have Yamaha CX-2 and Yamaha MX-2 and speakers are JBL 4412.
When I play music low it is allright , but when I am playing loud ( not clipping)
the sound get screeming.. ?
With my old speakers , a pair of Jamo , cheap danish speakers, it was not screeming ? Is MX-2 a bad amplifier or is JBL4412 a bad speaker ?
Anybody seen a rewiev of MX-2 ? I only can find one rewiev (Audiorewiev).
Is it just a bad combination of speaker and amplifier I got ?..What to do ?

It depends. Have you tried your amp on some other speakers? If that combo sounds alright, chances are it is your JBL speakers that are not up to par (it can't handle loud volumes).

If the highs are "screaming" at loud volumes, that would indicate to me that you're having non-linearity problems. That would be a defect of the speaker.

I don't think it's a "mismatch". The non-linearity thing I was talking about was with the tweeter. The tweeter is a metal dome. Unless these are made correctly, they can ring at high volumes, which is probably what you were hearing.

Another cause of a "harsh" sound is sometimes an amplifier near clipping.
