I have an Yamaha power amp m-45 that drives two b&W 683 for now. I would like to upgrade my speaker wire and add terminals. The B&W will take banana but the m-45 I have no idea what kind of speaker connector that is in the back of the unit.

Thanks

20 second search on Google...manual at http://www.usersmanualguide.com/yamaha_audio/separate_amplifiers/m-45

on page 4 they show a older style "capture" connector with a push thru clamp to thinner wire and a "feed thru" screw down connection for larger wire. Banana plugs would not be an improvement to the "feed thru" style connection. As with all older equipment, cleaning the connection surfaces will improve the electrical contacts, and using a contact cleaner/improver fluid like DeoxIT Gold G100L will insure the connections works at maximum connectivity for years.
