First post! I enjoy your excellent forum.

I am finally building my quasi ideal HT as we finish our basement. I have been purchasing components slowly for the past couple of years, including:

TV: Samsung HL-R5667W DLP
AVR: Denon 3805
DVD: Sony dvp-CX995V 400 megachanger
Direct TV HD DVR
Pronto TSU6000 remote
L\C\R Yamaha NS-IW760 in walls
Surround Yamaha NS-IW360C in ceilings

Sub: Bic H100 (Just purchased this based on recommendations from this forum)
Monoprice cables (again, from this site).

I will post some pictures and diagrams as construction progresses the next few weeks.

The main goal was to have a clutter free, clean installation that will sound good, look good all at a reasonable price. As such, all the components will be built into a custom entertain wall that will be accessible from behind.

Has any had any experience with the Yamaha Speakers?

You will find that there are not a lot of members here that advocate Yammy speakers; there is just a lot of speakers that are better performers for ~ the same cost.

That being said; if you like the way they sound then keep them. I trust you listened and liked them so that is why you have them?

Thanks for the reply.

Err um, the speakers are still in the box (I bought them about a year ago to gear up for our basement remodel, which then became delayed until now.) Boo hiss to me for not listening to them before hand. I spent about $400 total on 3 NS-IW760s and 4 NS-IW360c. I know in-ceiling speakers are not ideal but I was hoping someone had some experience with these in particular.(Not that I will change at this point).

I'm not familiar with Yamaha in-ceilings. In fact I didn't even know they made them.

When you install them and "if" your unhappy with the sound. Remember you could always e-bay them and get a good chunk of change back from them. You'd be surprised at what people pay on there for some items.
I hope this is not the case and they exceed your expectations. :D

Put a good sub in there and see how it works out. For kicks; I unplugged my main speakers and listened to just my in-ceilings and sub and it wasnt that bad. If you mainly watch movies down there it will probably be just fine.

Edit:

I see you have a sub; give it all a shot and let us know how it sounds.

Thanks.

Sometime in the next 24hours I will post floor plans, diagrams, pics, etc. of the projects progress. Hopefully, with your collective help I can decide on 7.1 or 5.1 surround, speaker placement, and the like.

You can always switch out the front 3 when it comes time to upgrade and end up with an awesome set-up. Leave enough speaker wire in the ceiling to run down the wall and into some nice bookshelves on stands (just in case)

The L\R\C channel speakers will be mounted in-wall in around the DLP, which will also be mounted in wall all in "media wall" similar to this:

About how far would you separate the L and R speakers from the tv?

That would depend on your room dimensions and seating distance. For a 56" display, 6'-10' is appropriate. 10' will allow for the big screen setup when you upgrade without having to move the L/R.:D :p

Yep, think of a triangle. ~ same distance from left to right and to listening position.
