anyone use this one? or have anything bad or good to say, its selling for $1499 right now, not looking to buy at the moment, but will keep an eye on the price for a sale. right now i have Polk audio rti10's csi5 center, and some crappy rears, also going to buy a blu ray soon also. this one is at futureshop, only reason i was going to buy from them was because i need to put it on my futureshop card.

My bad. Looks to be the HTR version of the RX-V3900. Didn't know they had that.
I'd google that for more info. Lots of discussion here on AH as well.

well its a big box store model, so i think thats why the model number is different, so its hard to get a review, ive looked.

What I meant is look for reviews of the RX-V3900. That HTR looks to be the same. In the past the only significant difference between the RXV and HTR models were cosmetics and minor zone 2/3 capabilities. those differences, over the past 2 years, seem to have gone away.

Thats MSRP for 6290 and by no means a deal. If you really want this unit, I suggest waiting until Future Shop buts it on sale. Either that or do what I did and buy the older RX-V1800 model for around $850.00

That's correct. And that is why I chose the HTR6190 as I do not need the Zone capabilities. The RX-V and HTR are are just named differently as a Yamaha marketing strategy to sell into differing retail channels.

To the OP....a word up here for you.....my model (6190) can now be had for about $600-$700 since the introduction of the 6290. That's a huge savings for basically the same unit. I also got mine at FS and paid $1,100 on-sale (MSRP was $1,499).

oh yea im def not paying that price. i might even wait untill next xmas, i still have to pay off some stuff from there, but i just want to figure out in advance what i want, so i can keep an eye on the price. im sure they will knock it down to $999 at some point. does futureshop still sell the old model or no?

I think some of the stores may still have stock....check the FS website for closest in-store availability on that model.

You got a good price for a new model then! Congrats! Did you go with it because of the better Zone capabilities? Or because the 6190 wasn't availably any longer?

I've got a strange one; I have the Yamaha 6290 hooked up to a Rogers Motorola DCT6416 III PVR and a Sony Bravia 46XBR6 via 1.3a HDMI cables controlled by a Harmony 880 remote.

I set 1080i on the PVR as the default and the signal gets sent as such to the tv and works great, however, if I choose to listen to cable music (only turning on the PVR and Yamaha 6290) and then later turn on the tv, the default settings have reverted back to 480i. It's very frustrating as I then have to go back to cable menu and reselect the 1080i settings.

On the manual settings for the receiver I've tried "THROUGH & 1080i" and it still continues to have this problem.

I initially thought it might be the cable box, but I have another identical PVR box and its doing the same thing (that box is hooked up to a Sharp Aquos and that config doesn't have the problem).

Any thoughts?

Regards
