Yamaha DSP-A1 Upgrade

Hi, All,

Could really use your advice. I have a DSP-A1. I don't use all of the features and like it for it's sound quality. I am looking to move to a new receiver to get networking/Internet capability, HDMI, etc. I am looking at Yamaha and Denon (e.g. Avr-991, avr-3311).

My primary concern isn't the exact receiver, but the general sound quality. If I spend 1,000 - 1,500 for a new receiver should I expect a backwards step in sound quality? I use my DSP-A1 mainly for Dolby Digital movies and streaming Rhapsody and iTunes to drive a Definitive Technologies 5.1 speaker system. Also, Exclude the stream quality of Rhapsody or iTunes. Just wondering who out there has done this type of switch and what their experience was. Is going from a $2,500 rcvr to a $1,000 going to be a bad experience on sound quality? Not sure if tech has changed so much over the past 10 years that I can get a1 quality for cheaper.

Many thanks in advance.

Scott

You won't regret it. With the new room correction algorithms, it's a whole new listening experience.:D
