I recently purchased a Yamaha MX -800u Amp and CX-800U Preamp. These are 21 years old but were never played often. The power meters do not function. I also purchased a Luxman T-117 tuner which is around the same age. Does anyone know if this Tuner carries a preset battery or a capacitor ?
I live in the Caribbean so a times it's very hot. Whenever I switch on the system, I keep a fan direct on the equipment so the units never get hot. Is this good in the sense that it will prolong the life of the components or should I let the system operate at its normal temperature. Will operating at cool temperature cause " cold soldering "

heat is the enemy of most electronics, so your efforts to keep your equipment cool are well worth it. Cold solder connections are a function of poor soldering technique during assembly only.
