Cart before the horse
I am trying to find a good set of front speakers to compliment my Yamaha A1000. Currently I have a 6.1 setup using old Onkyo speakers from a box set. For the moment I will be keeping the onkyo surrounds and only focusing on the fronts. I need L/R/C. I went to BB and sampled some Def Tech towers that included a sub and the sounded nice. I like the idea of having the sub in the tower if it is a good idea. Any reason that would not be a good choice? Its hard to say a specific budget b/c I would pay more dependent on the quality. I would say a mid range budget. Not over 1000 I guess. Like I said more for quality if needed. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or opinions. I mainly watch HD movies and some music listening but mainly movies.
The speakers you need are primarily a function of the
room and your
budget, plus your typical use (movies in your case) with a nod toward asthetics if required. Define these items and you will have a better idea on what to look for!
Speaker selection is
not a function of the receiver you have, with an exception for particularly low impedance speakers which do require a beefier receiver/amp to drive them.
But even then, it is the decision to buy low impedance speakers which drives the need for a beefier (and more expensive) receiver/amp, not the other way around.
