Does anyone have any insight into the Yamaha A S801 Integrated Stereo Amplifier? I’m researching it in hopes that it might pair well with a set of Klipsch RP8000F-II speakers. Thank you in advance.
There is nothing special that I can think of, all integrated amps with similar specs will pair equally well with the RF8000F-II, you just have to make sure the chosen amp has more than enough juice for your listening habits and distances.
Since you are researching, you may want to consider the following as well:
A-S700
I always prefer using external DAC with the A-S700 if you can find one used, there is nothing wrong with the S801. just don't like the idea of those mediocre quality dacs and volume control ICs shared with their low end AVR cousins, audibly should not be an issue but the principle is, why bother with those semi separates if they share such parts and components with the entry level AVRs.
The A-S700 is the last real traditional midrange integrated amp Yamaha made.
R-N800A
If you must buy new and need the build in DAC feature, you may want to consider the R-N800A, that has much better features than the aging A-801, such as:
- bass management
- RC, YPAO
- Network capabilities
- Pre outs, that give you some future proof should you require more output if/when you upgrade to speakers that require more juice
- Much better DAC than the one in the A-S801
Being a new product the R-N800A may cost a little more though.
