Hi all

I own a 3900 yamaha amp and i have had it 9 months and the firmware is version 1.07

I used my amp on sunday 20/9/09 and watched a couple of films no problems then i turned it off, Tuesday night 22/9/09 i turned it on and when it gets up to the please wait part it just switches off.

I unpluged all the cables including the speakers so that the only cable that was in was the power cable and still the same problem, so i read the book and noticed a factory reset option byt holding a button down and powering up but this time the amp was on and did not switch off but instead of doing a factory reset i decided to update the firmware to 1.08 from 1.07.

once it updated the amp guess what everything is working again so i pluged all my cables back in and its still ok.

now the worrie is that i think the firmware must of gotten corrupted or somthing when i switched it off on sunday this makes me very worried as if the firmware is not protected it could happen again.

i am going to inform yamaha about this as i was well miffed about my amp as my last yamaha lasted 10 years trouble free i just can not beleave that the firmware can be so easliy corrupted by just switching the amp off i ahve even got the amps settings locked.

has anyone on here had or herd of this problem what happens if it happens again can you upgrade the firmware with the same version you already have.

this is very worring.

any thoughts.

Hi all Was there a problem like this with version 1.04?. The problem happened like this i would turn the amp on it would get to the please wait and then turn off, I wild then try again but it would not even turn on at all not even try then I would unplug it and try it again this would turn the amp on and get to the please wait and then turn off and I would try again but would do nothing not even try to power up untill you unpluged it.

Is this the same firmware bug in 1.04 the same symtoms as this I so it might be that it has not been fixed at all and still present in the v06 or v07 as o could not remember which firm I had when it did this.

Any help as I am going to right a email to yam on the weekend and wanted to know if this was the same problem in the previous firm.
