Can't wait to get my XPA-5 in a few days!

Since I've already decided it'll sound better than the 50W NAD, maybe I can post a review NOW? :)

Heavier must be better! :)
That's funny, I'm making the exact same move as you, adding an XPA-5 to my 743. It's scheduled for delivery on the 6th so I'm curious what quadrupling the power does.

On movie playback, probably not much. Stereo will be louder.

We might get to know our neighbor up close and personal.... Lol :D

I'll have to vote for the XPA-5 to cancel out the Denon.:D
Well, all I can say is, I hope the review for the XPA-5 won't be boring with not enough of detailed graphs, specs, etc.

The $7,000 Denon pre-pros & $7,000 Denon amp are HIGH profile, and I would believe they will get a lot more care, attention, and detail review with all kinds of graphs, specs, etc.

A $14,000 Denon system might as well be a million dollar system as far as my budget is concerned. I would very much like to see the XPA-5 reviewed first.

I just got mine hooked up!

Had to chase it to the FedEx distribution center tonight...

It's em... 19in deep. +Banana plug = doesn't quite fit... I'll shift it to the left after I'm done playing with it. Thank you to Isaac Asimov's Fondation series for the much needed support...

It's doing exactly what I was hopping for. Popped in my Opus3 SACD and the sound, beside being louder, is more there. Is it possible my 50W NAD was experiencing some form of compression in the higher frequencies? Guitars being plucker sound so much clearer...

Gene,

I'd also like to see the XP-5 review soon. Like is mentioned earlier, many of us can't justify an $3800 (or more) amplifier... But when you get down to this price level for what is being advertised we most of us are intrigued as it is within reach for many of us.

It's a small 75lb. Small for Emotiva standard.

The big brothers (MPS-1 and 2) weight 115lb and is shipped in two parts...

I'm trippin' now with it playing in stereo only! Not in any condition for an objective review... aha!

edit: Just identified a really weird and annoying "buzzing" sound in one of the tracks. Apparently, the dude blowing into that alto saxophone needs to breath now and again... Lol! Sorry, I'm a kid tonight...

This is a tough call. I have to review the following items now:
Denon Separates
Axiom A-1400 Amp
Emo XPA-5

Maybe we should run a poll on what the readers would like to see first :)
Gene, Do we have a winner on what will be the next review. (xpa-5)

this xpa-5 looks really attractive especially the "sharing" of power between channels e.g. 200x5 or 300x1 will be great for HT use.

nice new products from emo this time, I just hope they come out with them asap. av123 and emotiva announces so many products at a time that im afraid this will push everything to next year.

they have a new pre-pro coming, an XPA monoblock too! 500w at 8 ohms! and an XPA-3 that shares the same characteristics of the XPA-5 but with only 3 channels :)

sorry guys but I just got the Denon separates in and have limited time to review them before I have to send them back so the Emo amp will have to be second in line. I should have the Emo review done in May provided I get the sample sometime in early April.

Bummer... but I'm also looking forward to the Denon review as well. When do you expect it to be ready?
