"Well, just throw those assumptions out of the window because the LPA-1 and the XPA-5 do not sound the same. The XPA-5 is more dynamic. The sound has more authority to it. For instance, the bass is tighter, kick drums have more kick, and the pluck of upright bass strings have more “pluckiness.” Other differences include greater refinement which offers a bit more detail and clarity. It is as though a thin layer of skin has been peeled back from
my CDs to reveal more music embedded on them."

Give me a break!

He can truly hear a difference between 150 wpc & 200 wpc?

The LPA-1 has 7 monoblocks w/ 7 toroidal transformers, right?

Is this review for real?

I'm just wondering.:D

I just love it when the guy rights a bunch of prose and has absolutely nothing to back up his words like measured specs?

I mean Stereophile is pretty funny too, but at least they have extensive measurements.

I believe it is esoteric/ridiculous reviews like that that scare away the typical audio geeks from getting more into the hobby.

I must agree I didn't think much of that review either. Not much substance, just kind of falls through your fingers.
What about it guys, Gene, Clint will you be doing a review?

Can't wait to get my XPA-5 in a few days!

Since I've already decided it'll sound better than the 50W NAD, maybe I can post a review NOW? :)

Heavier must be better! :)

I will be reviewing the XPA-5 after I finish up some other reviews. I just finished a nearly 20 page review of the Yamaha RX-Z11 and need a good 10-15 min break before i test another amp or receiver :)

FYI,
Neither the LPA-1 nor the new XPA-5 are monoblock designs. This is why the XPA-5 can deliver more power into 2 channels then it can into 5 channels, all channels driven. My LPA-1 has a single large toroid.

The higher end amps like the Emotiva MPS-1/2, IPS-1, and RPA-1 are monoblock designs.

Priorities, Gene. One in 1,000 of us can afford the ultra-cool Z11. Most of us can afford the XPA-5! Forget the Z11. :p (But I don't blame you for playing with the neatest toys first! :))

Your 15 min are up (just kidding). Skip the other reviews and go right to the XPA. Mine shipped today.

This is a tough call. I have to review the following items now:
Denon Separates
Axiom A-1400 Amp
Emo XPA-5

Maybe we should run a poll on what the readers would like to see first :)
