G gentlejax Junior Audioholic Nov 12, 2011 #3 curious , what is the reason? is there a reason for wanting that model? I got one that was the first release..actually a Jap version but it does everything I need in English. I think it doesnt play Ps1 and ps2 American games though. I have played it maybe 40hrs since I got it..I dont really know why I have it..lol

its phillip Audioholic Ninja Nov 12, 2011 #4 He probably wants it because it has true backwards compatibility.

Yes it does, but I still haven't found backwards compatibility to be of much use. I've had mine since it came out too, and I have played maybe two PS2 games on it the first few months and that was it.

baniels Audioholic Nov 14, 2011 #8 SACD-capable PS3's with 3.55 or lower firmware can be modded to backup SACD's. Resulting backup ISO's can be burned to DVD-R's, playable on a number of SACD players out there. It's also possible to get DSD DIFF files which, through a few other means, can be converted to wav/flac for more playback options. More info here and here.

JohnA Audioholic Chief Nov 14, 2011 #10 Hi All, The reason is that it is backwards compatible with PS2 and PS1 games, and you can still run linux on it, plus it had wifi and flash card reader.

I've probably played more ps2 games on mine than ps3 games

Click to expand... If it has newer firmware, you cannot install linux - the option was removed. So you need to specify in your request that you are looking for one that has older firmware. There was only one model that didn't have Wifi, the 20G, all of the rest of them all do. its phillip said: Well that of course depends on the person. There are a few PS2 games that I would still play, but the graphics look pretty poor on average now compared to what newer games can deliver. Even Uncharted 1 was SOOO far ahead of anything the PS2 could do.

The game that I play most of the time is counterstrike, a ten year old FPS
