So I'm sitting here staring at my TV and I've come to the conclusion that I hate where my center channel is. Currently I have no way of getting my center channel in front of my display without it blocking a large amount of the screen.

Currently my center is on top of a box to get it around the same height as my towers behind the tv. However I feel like I'm losing a lot of SPL at my listening position because obviously the TV isn't transparent to audio.

Do you all think it would be better for me to prop the speaker up ever higher to it's sitting above the display? Do you all have any ideas on what I could use to prop the tv up so I can get the center in front without blocking the screen and remote sensors? The display is on the heavier side and so far the only thing I could find that worked was a bunch of encyclopedias but that looked horrendous. My self diagnosed OCD prevents me from having equipment that isn't symmetrical, so I don't want put it in the cabinet and aim it up or anything like that.

I whipped up these in paint so you all can get a better idea of where my center currently is.

Above or below a TV is the typical arrangement for a center channel so the question would be why you wouldn't put it above it? They make center channel mounts designed to go on top of televisions which work pretty well.

Yet, below the TV is far more common, but you will have to find a TV stand which will elevate your TV just enough to put that center channel in place.

Which would push me right over to www.racksandstands.com where they have a pretty good list of TV stands...

Including 45 desktop mounts:

Perhaps what I might lean towards though is something like a couple of speaker stands...

Something which matches what you already have, and use a piece of wood/glass to support the TV and go with a speaker stand height which is enough to let your center channel fit underneath cleanly.

BMX is right of course, but while you getting a new stand or shelf for center,
I think it wont be such a bad idea, just for sake of testing put the center speaker below tv, on left shelf where (DVD ?) is now...
I know it'll a bit off axis, but imho better spot then behind tv
This is must 2 humble cents :)

how about some REAL pics ? if you can cut & screw, a simple mount can be made to put that speaker in a perfect position .

if there is room above your TV you can always mount two L brackets to the wall (wooden or metal.. depends on who lives with you:)). Then, bolt down a nice piece of wood to it like a shelf.

Look at the HT in my sig, its what I did and its wifey approved.

Here is a wooden one

Can't find the metal one I used. I used it as my center channel is very heavy. I just painted it the same color as the wall.
