WOW, Robin Williams RIP

Report was released today saying he hung himself. Being treated for depression, he could have been on medication or not, but chances are good he was and some of those drugs have been linked to suicide. A friend of mine was being treated for anxiety after his divorce and we could very easily see when he was on his medication and not, as well as when the doses were being adjusted because he was all over the place.

This is extremely upsetting, I loved most of Robin's work from pure comedy to very serious drama movies like above mentioned One Hour Photo and also:
Final Cut and Insomnia

We both convinced that it must have been under the influence influence of side effect of anti-depression drugs.

I tend to believe that whatever drugs, If any, are found in his system are not there for recreational purposes. From his style of comedy, I think the multitude of voices in his head speaking all at once finally got to him.

He was definitely on the manic side, and I don't think it was just an act. Look at every talk show appearance he has done. Robin was running at a hundred miles and hour, and the host always had his hands full. He has been around for as long as I remember, it will be weird without him. This is like when George Carlin died, hard to believe.

That was always a favorite of mine.

Someone mentioned Patch Adams; I forgot about that one. That was a really good movie. Hook.

There are numerous interviews with friends that said he had struggled with emotional issues a long time. It doesn't take much to see that comedy often comes from pain. Sort of a release or a defense mechanism for these people, not unlike some of the best musicians. Strong emotion is often channeled back out as something else and the results can be beautiful.

I suppose now we have to wait for the toxicology reports to see what was in his system. We've all seen those commercials for various drugs to treat depression with one of the side effects being suicidal thoughts. Weird.
It's possible, lots of addictive types are on some kind of anti-depressant. 70%+ of people who struggle with substance abuse also have co-existing conditions (mental illness: major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, personality disorders, etc). That's likely why they, er "we," use in the first place.

I always thought that we would go by suicide. The man was exceptionally brilliant and coping with the boredoms of life may have been just too much. RIP Robin. You will be missed.

They put a bunch of his movies on Netflix last night. I hope they put on One Hour Photo. I'd like to rewatch it.

It was revealed yesterday that Williams had Parkinson's Disease. I figured there was something more basic underlying this case.

That's pretty surprising. Even moreso since he supported the Michael J Fox foundation, so I wonder if he knew he had it? Even Michael J Fox didn't know apparently.

He knew. Not that I'm saying PD contributed to his decision, but I think this revelation does point to there being more to the story than we know about. It is tragic that someone so beloved by so many felt he had to terminate his own life, but I think judging Williams, his decision, and whether or not he could be saved does a massive disservice to the man. I think it is likely he left a note too, so I think it is likely some people know his final thoughts.

Not sure what I meant to type there, but obviously Robin knew he had it.

This one is a hard one. He was such a brilliant actor. He even played Osric in a Hamlet movie once and was incredible.

My favorite is probably bicentennial man which was simply an amazing performance to me.

Don't forget Good Morning, Vietnam
