Would you place your standmount speakers on spikes?

I bought a pair of LSA Monitor 1's that should be here any day now. My stands are VTI VSPs; they have very sharp spikes at each corner of the top plate.

I'm hesitant to place the speakers on the spikes because they're likely going to punch little holes through the veneer. I'm guessing potential future buyers (should I sell them) will consider this a deal breaker.

So, would you say the sonic benefits of using the spikes outweigh the damage they're likely to cause?

Can't you just take them off? Every set of stands I've owned come with them and all of them have been removable and not installed out of the box. And no, I don't use them. As long as the top plate is big enough, I use Auralex MoPads.

I can't think of any good reason you would want to physically couple your speakers to the stand.

Ironically, hard materials (metal) and good coupling (spikes) increase transmission rather than reduce it.

I used Home Depot rubber dots under the speakers. Mopads or similar high density form will give much better decoupling.
