Would using AC outlets on back of receiver degrade sound quality?

I've noticed that some receivers and higher end models don't have these AC outlets, making me think that not every manufacturer thinks they are a good idea.
i own a very high end receiver from Marantz and it has AC outlets on the back.
as far as i know they pretty much bypass the whole system and are basically just connected to the original inlet wire and on/off switch used to supply the main power cube in the amp with power. as long as you don't overload them by attempting to plug a separate amplifier into them it shouldn't cause any problems. the worst case scenario would be that you plugged a separate 1000 watt amplifier into it (which no one would typically even need to do) and ended up burning up the on/off switch in the original receiver.

FWIW, using a switched output can be useful if you have something which is low powered which should be always be on when the AVR or pre/pro is on and off when it is off but does not have a control signal input.

It is not good for an amp, which needs to be able to draw a lot of power.

It is good for something like an equalizer which is in between a pre/pro or AVR and an external amp. (That's what I used the switched output on my previous pre/pro for. Of course, equalizers are anathema to the true Audioholic! )
