Would Rockets be much of an upgrade?

My current HT set up is NHT VT1.2’s for fronts, a VS1.2a for center, a set of HDP-1’s for side speakers, and VS1.2a’s as the back speakers. I am pretty happy with this setup but I think that I may be happier with something that has a little bit more low end. I was looking at the rocket special that AV123 has going on which consist of a set of 850’s for the front, Bigfoot center, and 450’s for rear. With shipping this setup is going to cost me $2,400. Would this be a big improvement over what I currently have or are there any other suggestions in this price range? Thanks for you help.

Why not just add a sub instead of replacing the entire system if you're happy with the overall sound? It'd be less expensive and you'd be able to add a whole lot more low end.

NHTs have a very good reputation for sound reproduction. No reason to gut them because your speakers don't reach to 20hz. Very few do. Even then, a sub is usually recommended.

Yes, get a sub! Look into a SVS PB13-Ultra!!! You'll thank me later ;)

In order to say that the Rockets would be an up-grade. Someone would have to have heard the NHT VT1.2’s. Sorry to say I have not.

It sounds like all you need is a new sub. Your speakers make you happy so get a sub and you will be REALLY happy..Best of luck....

I'd have to agree. if you like the speakers, you could just add a sub. i haven't heard your speakers, so I can't compare, but I will comment on the system you are contemplating. I have that exact system (+ a PB-13 Ultra), and couldn't be happier. :)

Thanks for all the help. I enjoy my NHT's but I feel that they are missing something. I currently have a 10" sub right now and of course the bass is lacking but I am working on a DIY sub right now (RLP-15 and an EP2500) and should have it done in the next couple weeks (if time premits). I have been thinking of buying new speakers for a little while now. I probably don’t need them near as bad as I think I do. Some of it is that I have been eyeing the rockets for a while now and they have mentioned a price increase and I think that I am just getting antsy. BTW my room is 14.5’X 21’X 9’ I don’t know if that makes a difference.
