I was a superfan of Yamaha monitors. My brother in law still has a pair that is over 20 years and they still work as a charm. One big advantage for their longevity was the butyl rubber woofer suspension It turned out to be many times less degradable that foam. In the tropics mold and heat destroys foam in 10 years or less.

I use the mackies daily for sound/music/dialogue editing and light mixing. I also like them as low volume music listening speakers but they can be fatiguing after a day's work. I considered adding the NS-200ma's at one point to this setup but I really don't believe in multiple sets of speakers for reference monitoring. To add... something more musical and fun but good for home cinema might be what is called for to work with the Denon.

But going back to the original post (IIRC at this point) about the multiple sets that's interesting. Musical and fun are really hard to translate.

"Always do the right thing." -Da Mayor. But... maybe that means new speakers.

If you want new speakers that wont break the bank and sound world class give a pair of KEF LS 50 a spin. They are AMAZING. You can grab a new pair for about 1k. Though they are half pint size they sound like they were 5 times their size. Clarity and detail are all there. The UniQ design which combines woofer and tweeter in one driver is the real deal.
