Hey everyone,
I'm thinking very strongly about upgrading my front speakers very soon. Due to the wife wanting to buy a house in the next year or so, my budget is pretty restricted since all of our extra cash flow is going to prepare for this investment. I have, though, had a huge hankering to upgrade my front sound stage. Originally I wanted to go with the Deftech Mythos Ones but I am willing to hold off on something like that for a couple more years, but I do want an upgrade.

As of right now my fronts are a pair of Klipsch B-3s with a Synergy C-2 center channel. My budget, as always, is a little wonky since I will probably be purchasing from BB and get a discount, but I am strongly considering the SM350/SM450's and getting the 2002 within the next month or two. Is this worth the money to upgrade? Is there better out there for the price? I can't run a sub in my place at all, tried that once, failed miserably with neighbors on both sides with a subdude at very modest levels. I have read the bass extension on these is reasonable, and I'm not looking for a miracle. I have demoed the SM350 but haven't been able to find a dealer with the SM450 in stock but I assume their "sound" is very similar.

Thanks as always for feedback, I greatly appreciate all of the support you guys give on this stuff.

I would suggest waiting for the next home and your space there for the audio.

Agreed wait until you get a place so you can know your needs.

I must admit, I am mildly surprised. This is one of the few times on this site that someone has been recommended not to upgrade  Thanks for the feedback, I guess I just want to upgrade more than it being an actual necessity.

Oh no no, Upgrade is gooood! It's just better to wait until you are in the new house, and know the dimension and the shape of your audio room. You do want to upgrade to get a better sound after all, not just for the heck of it. And speaker room interaction is one of the most important factors. So wait for the room.

Very true. Maybe I'll wait til this summer to see what our mortgage broker says about our ability buy a house then gauge when I'm going to be able to buy, then see if it's worth just picking up a "for now" set for the next year+. Maybe we'll luck out and be able to buy something, that would be awesome.

Definitely hold off on the upgrade, but start socking away Jacksons now. Now is also a good time to be house shopping if you can afford it as 30 yr "fixed rate" mortgages are still low.
