Woofer help

Hello good people

I'm trying to pick a woofer for a first build, I'm looking at a Dayton ST255-8 10". Would this work for a hifi loudspeaker? Please give me opinions on this,why this is good or bad, and what makes a good woofer work well. Looking for something in the $100 a piece.

stating what your design goals are, total budget, room size etc will help get some responses to your thread. Is this for a large 2 way, 3 way etc... if your building a speake,r either you or someone you know will have to model the driver/s to come up with an enclosure and crossover design. Have you heard of The Loudspeaker CookBook by Vance Dickinson? Id start there before considering any build, well worth your while.
