Wood floor headaches

Carpet is just nasty. I run a Health Management company that focuses on respiratory disease so I have to live by the rules and keep most soft surfaces out of my house. I have asthma and allergies and since getting rid of soft surfaces I have been able to completely stop all my medications; there is just no way to properly clean soft surfaces. Trendy or not; hardwoods look great, are easy to keep clean and make it more fun to try to tune an AV system.

Amen to that, I also suffer from allergies, etc. I can't stand carpeting. BTW, if you ever want to freak out a carpet lover, take him to an installation where carpeting is being replaced, disgusting is too nice a word. And if they have pets, well, then you can film a horror movie.

Now that I'm getting settled in with my new HT, I'm noticing all the little things. We have wood floors too and a glass cabinet and a granite fireplace on the one side and an open area on the other. It's not at all ideal, not even close. I did take the large area rug from the living room and put in the family room but I noticed zero difference. It's odd because it makes a noticiable difference being absent from the living room, but I guess the other issues I have in the HT area are just so overwhelming that small accoutrements won't make a difference.
