while im no fan of MSs closed source policies (or any companies including "A") , id welcome more consistant intergration options. Open protocals like Z Wave have enabled "low end" users to automate with success. I believe that this comming season we will have a whole slew of products that will interface well together, especially with wifi, powerline, and ip based products.

With encrypted QAM becoming the norm on cable systems. Very few cablecard compatible tuner cards. Toss in SDV (Switched Digital Video)...

Media center PC's are one their last legs, at least as far as PVR goes.
