Hello People

I'm new to this forum so i'm probably asking a question that has been asked hundreds of times already so i do apologise. What I'm looking to find out is does anyone have any opinions on wireless surround speakers. I'm looking to upgrade my current set up to a Yamaha AV amp and a new set of surround speakers. The problem I have is that I have new wooden floors and no way of cleanly running speaker cables so i'm considering a set of wireless ones. Does anybody know if they are either any good ( Any make considered within reason price wise ) or if you could suggest any specific companys that do make these products. Please help !!!!!!!!

Speakers need power... power comes from a wall source. So either way you are going to have to run wires to the speakers. There are wireless solutions out there but you will be loosing a great deal of quality by doing this. The amps on wireless devices usualy arnt as good as pre-amps or receivers.
I have heard of people doing all sorts of things to hide wires to make them mearly invisable.
I would rather see you hide the wires with a rug or trim over them then go wireless. Ask around see if people can post pictures of their solutions.
Best of luck, keep us updated on your solution. Each solution is unique and fun to see.

Is there any way to run spkr lines to the rear? Under the house, through walls/ceiling? Most wireless spkr's...well, suck.

Yes I would tend to agree without even looking at any wireless speaker's that they will be pretty bad. If they exist, they must be powered by batteries and I imagine they are also susceptible to receiving interference from other electronics. In my opinion you are better off either not implementing surround speaker's in your setup or somehow getting wire to a location that you can put some surround speaker's.

I would take a decent two channel setup over shitty wireless speakers any day. It seems a lot of people believe 5 channel sound is god's gift to humanity and anything less is taboo. Sure it's cool but unless you're going all out there is no point. Stereo is just fine for me.

Many thanks people for your very informative replys, looks like i'll be steering clear of the wireless jobs then. Many thanks again.
