Alright, I have one I haven't deal with this before, but I have an issue that hasn't clicked in for a solid solution for me yet.
I have a client who has a dance floor in his basement. He had originally installed 4 6" B&W speakers - not loud enough, very bright on the hardwood dance floor below.
I replaced them with 8" three way speakers and switched them amp up for something more powerful.
Still these four 8" speakers (in ceiling) and 12" sub are NOT enough for his desires.
Okay - so what the heck do I put in? Realistically, I can't run more power to these speakers without blowing them and the sound is incredibly loud in my opinion, but he wants more.
But, I can't run more wiring in the room.
I would like to give him some powered speakers (Behringer or similar) which are ridiculously powerful, but only are used when he needs that extra power. How do I get it from the source to the speakers in a reliable fashion? I want to take the line level output of the source and run it to a wireless line level repeater which can then allow for the speakers to be placed anywhere on/near the dance floor.
This is about 20 feet away - not crazy far, but totally impossible to retro wires in due to the design of the room without significant drywall repair.
I did not get to prewire this room and his expectations do not mesh up at all with what he originally requested.
I could go with hanging stage speakers and a Crown amp and tell him to repair his ceiling... I'm just looking for options overall. Any wireless solutions/repeaters people have used?
