some of you might have read my other thread, but if not i am upgrading my home network to gigabit.

i pretty much need everything (switch, router ect..) ive been looking at "business grade" switches as opposed to the "consumer grade" ones... i would kind of like to future proof my network, for a few months anyhow lol. so i was thinking, why not get a dedicated router/firewall/switch like the Cisco RVS4000 then add an access point... that way if wireless technology changes i just have to replace my access point...

or should i go the all in one route... like the Cisco WRVS4400N...

it appears either way is going to cost about the same... so there is no real cost savings...

I have an RVS4000 with multiple business class gigabit switches and a stand alone WAP54g wireless access point. The system is bullet proof. I can easily upgrade the wireless access point to N when and if I need it.

thanks for the positive words... i think for home use i would just use the RSV4000 as a switch... no need for an extra switch... i only have one PC and a (future) NAS, the rest is WiFi (psp, wii, bridge to satellite box (might hard wire eventually; not high on the list))
