The dimensions of my Living room are 13'-4 x16'-11" Im moving into my first townhome and looking to slowly Build a System . My pocket book isnt as big as most of you on here as im in my early 20's and doing everything on my own. However ive grown up with the sound of Bowers and Wilkens my whole life as my dad n I have had a few different 600 series speakers. Unfortunately when I was old enough to drive i sold a lot of my equipment for car parts. What I currently own is a Pioneer Elite vsx 90-txv7.1 channel receiver,Sony BDP s350 blu ray player,Panamax 5300ex Surge/ power conditioner, , B&W 301's, B&W 601s2's(these will be used as surround speakers(i know i should have identical speakers but on my budget its just not possible) and an Mirage Omni S-12 subwoofer. I recently went to a nearby B&W dealer and listened to the new 600 series. As I was interested in buying a set of 683's or 684's as my Main Front Speakers, however after listening to them I wasnt As impressed as i usually am with the b&w 600 series. I had the opportunity to listen to them back to back to the CM 1's... That little speaker puts out some of the most amazing sound and the rosenut finish is astounding! My question To you is Will the Cm1 and matching center channel put out enough sound in my living room. I was originally planning on buying floorstanders but this lil speaker put out a lot of sound and didnt sound like it was straining to do it.

I listen to a Variety of Music from blues, rock, jazz, rap, and country, as well i like to watch movies at home. So this sytem will be doubling up as music and home theater. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Tommy!

What is the ceiling height, is it level or sloped and can you describe the room (how much furniture, door and window placement/treatment, carpet or bare floor, etc)?

Did you listen to them at home, or in the store? Unless the room is similar to yours and doesn't have other speakers in it, it's just a very rough approximation. If the store has carpet and you don't, there's not a chance that they'll sound similar. They may be great at home but I think that's where you'll have to test them.

You've got some pretty good gear for someone your age and a not so big pocket book. I have heard the CM1's, and for a small speaker, they are pretty potent. The matching center probably sounds pretty much the same, I would imagine, with a little more oomph, due to being larger, and with an extra driver. The question is how loud do you listen to your music and movies? If you like it really loud, then I don't think the CM1's will keep up, at least on the music side. The center, again, being bigger with the extra driver, would probably work pretty well with movies, mind you, I have NOT heard the center channel from the CM series, so I'm just speculating. There is a floorstander in the CM series lineup, the CM-7 that LOOKS pretty impressive. Does your B&W dealer have the full CM lineup? If so, you should go back and put the CM center speaker and the CM-7 and CM-1 through their paces. This should make your decision a lot easier to make.

Well My gear ive always Found deals... Tweeter is going out of business so i was able To pick up the Pioneer and Panamax, God awful cheap. As for the Speakers, i wasnt a typical kid, most kids bought toys and pedal bikes. I saved any money I could get to buy Home theater stuff.. LOL cm-7 is out of my price range as i couldnt justify at this time in my life buying 2000 dollar set of speakers. I did get to hear them and they sounded great as well. As far as Volume, there are days when i like to crank it but most of the time i will have everything at pretty moderate level.(especially since when i move into the town home my neighbors will be directly attached to me)

HighFigh to answer your question the store was carpeted as will the room they speakers will be put in. The Ceiling height is 9 ft, the room does open up in one corner to a dining room .. i have a floor plan on my pc, i just dont know how to upload it to this site
