Will my Receiver drive 2 BIC DV-84s?

Hey there guys, I have come into possession of an old JVC RX-555BK stereo receiver. I was at first contemplating the Sony SS-f7000s but have opted for the BIC DV-84 floor standing speaker.

My only concern is, will this receiver be able to drive them well enough? If not can you suggest a receiver under 100USD (I don't mind buying Used) that would be enough for these speakers?

Also, if anyone has a better suggestion as far as floorstanding speakers (Budget is 300USD) I would definitely appreciate it

You can always try the JVC with the tower speakers - I would choose
the Bic over the Sony.

If you do look for a new receiver - then this Sherwood will be fine.
Sherwood RX-4105 Stereo Receiver 252-125

My choice for tower speakers is Boston CS260

Or, the A250

The JVC is fine to power most speakers. I think you would be hard pressed to find speakers under $300 that the JVC could not drive.

Sorry it won't let me quote your links as my post count is too low.

How are those Boston's? Note that these will be used as my fronts, mostly for music and probably some movie watching.
Also is the website you linked fairly reliable? That's a great price and I'm not gonna turn my nose up at refurbished ;)

They are rich sounding and balanced - they are open and detailed,
with good bass and a nice midrange for music. They are not sharp
or harsh sounding, and can handle all types of music. And, they do
a good job for home theater - they are robust sounding.

AC4L is a good company, with real good customer service.

Be on the lookout for a deal on Infinity Primus 362 speakers. They show up note and again for about $300. Based on forum feedback, I believe they are unbeatable for the price.

Is DIY an option? If yes, look up the Tritrix kit on Parts Express.

I may have to just settle with the BIC DV-84s as right now I have no sound in my house :(
We run a small web radio with Live DJs and it'd be insulting to make them monitor via headphones.
On top of that, it's eerie not having music or shows playing will at home haha.

As far as a sub, which I consider getting a month or so from now, what would you suggest? I was considering the BIC F-12 but a lot of people say it's not "musical," although I don't really understand that as sine waves are all the same right?

I don't really see how subs can sound too differently voiced if they're only outputting one type of waveform, and figure that differences lay mostly in frequency response and at what dB a sub will play certain frequencies.
Anyways, correct me if I'm wrong and steer me in the right direction :) I felt like the F-12 was definitely within my budget range and I'd like a great 12" sub for about that price.

I thought DJs monitored through headphones exclusively. I have this stereotypical image in my head ... Though I did notice that DnB DJs are starting to not use cans.

If they can't work the tables while holding the headphones using the shoulders and throw down a wicked mix, f them ;):D. Call me old school.

Some of them don't run turntables, but we usually have our DJs and friends/family over listening and kicking back a few brews, so it's weird not have a main out hahaha. We all do monitor in headphones though :D

I actually use Technics SL-1200M3Ds so I definitely feel a bit old school

Just throwing this out there, but have you considered craigslist? I bought a vintage Knight receiver and two matching Knight speakers, beautiful solid wood cabinets on all three pieces, $150. Never had a good spot for it, so I flipped it for $600. There are deals to be had.

I tried the CraigsList route, but Memphis, TN does not have a very active Hi-Fi community. The best I could find were some old Cerwin Vegas, and I'm really not a huge fan of them.

Looks like the Dv-84 is back in stock at Parts-Express. I'm still trying to figure out if I need the 64's or the 84's...heh.

My DnB haunt (when I was back in Seattle) used Mackie PA speakers. Ear bleeding loud and good deep bass. I don't recall there being a sub, but there had to have been a few given how loud and deep the bass was.
