For those of you how helped out with my previous thread's, thanks. I am afraid I have another question though. I called and canceled my order for the 7002's and got the 7001sc's; however, will my denon 2809 power them. They have a peak of 600 watts and my reciever only pushes 140. I am not sure how this works it is a 7x140 and i have a 5 channel system so will it divide up the other watts equally of just not use them?

Those towers have good sensitivity, and your Denon will push them just fine. However, an amp wouldn't hurt at all, but I wouldn't get one unless you feel your denon is straining to push it to reference levels.

It might depend on the size of the room, and how loud you like to rock out

But i agree with the other comments. The denon will be just fine, but adding an amp would most likely be a good experience for you as well.

Most of the power needed will be for the built-in Subwoofer, which is powered by the internal 1500-watts amplifier. The tweeters and midrange require very little power. According to Tom Nousaine @ Sound & Vision Magazine, the 7001SC has a Sensitivity of 94 dB w/m. I think his room size is about 7,500 sq ft.

So the Denon 2809 should be just fine.

I bet the volume knob on the Denon will be no more than - 18dB.:D

The volume knob of my Denon seldom goes beyond - 20dB.:D

Not to burst your bubble, but the 2809 is spec'ed at 115W/ch.:( It'll power the DTs just fine.:) But since you're so impulsive, you'd better order an Emotiva XPA-3 just in case.:p:rolleyes:

Impulsive is right!

Lol, I really am impulsive as hell, but I love the fact that I can get quality answers from this forum. I have never used these forums before but they are great! Just an update, you guys are going to laugh at this, I canceled the order for the denon and I think I am going to upgrade to the pioneer elite SC-07. Because I found it for 1050$ ( i think it may be a steal because its normally a 2200$ reciever) and it appears to be a much better amp because of the class-D amplifier. This system keeps climbing in price but hopefully it will be worth it. I am now looking at some other amps too that will allow Biamping for the from two speakers but if you guys don't think that is necessary then I will stick with the Pioneer. I can't wait to get my system. My tv has already shipped. I got the new samsung 52" 1080P 240hrz LCD. Because I think i will burn in a plasma and I heard they have some problems with blu-ray. I got a denon 3800 blu-ray player for 900$ with a 2yr full warranty. It was a refurb but i figured its covered so what the hell.

I think that's cubic feet, but he has a large room anyhow:D

Just FYI, Gene, the president of Audioholics, is NOT extremely impressed with some class-D amps.

I **think** he said one class-D amp boasted a 500-watts per channel status, but could only produce about **50** watts of Continuous Power 20Hz-20kHz - or something similar.

So do some more research before you buy.

I'm not saying class-D amps are bad, but compare some more before you actually buy.

Another forum member is selling his class-D amps and buying five Emotiva amps (XPA-1).
