I know I would be interested in reading something like this that follows the Audioholics single blind protocol, a bunch of amps and Audioholics reference speaker system.

:D

And get threatened with lawsuits?

Are you kidding?:D

The only companies that may be interested are Emotiva and Outlaw.

The amps can be given generic labels to the readers and perhaps type class disclosed. The tester only needs to know what the manufacturer amps are. Just no tubes! All I care about is whether there is statistical preference to one of them. Answer to the question "do all amps sound the same"?

That would be an interesting test.

As mentioned, you could label them with generic labels like, brand D, M, O, Y, etc ;)

You cannot tell who the manufacturers are either otherwise like ADTG said, lawsuits, and only Emo and Outlaw would be interested, in fact I think only Emo....

To avoid imposing too much restrictions, it may be better to limit the candidates to mid range amps with power outputs >100 WPC 8 ohms, 20-20kHz, <0.1% THD, within a price range of $500 to $5000. As soon as you include a $200 AVR in the mix that requires highly restricted test protocol/methodology, people will say things to discredit such DBT.

Seriously, I have no life.
Let's see which amp can be used to weld if the speaker leads are used to hold a welding rod and the steel. :D

better put a price cap on the amp and type of amp and they need to use the same speakers, cables, pre-amp/processor and source and music for each and every amp to get any respectable result.. Sounds like a lot of trouble and it all depends on a person ears which are not the same as others.
