If in your process of looking for a remote, you decide that a 880 can work for you, I have one that has been sitting around unused, let me know if interested.
How much do you want? I have heard good things about the device.

Get a URC RFS200 PowerPak Bundle w/ MasterControl RF20 and PowerBlaster

for $85.10 from Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/RFS200-PowerPak-Bundle-MasterControl-PowerBlaster/dp/B000FL9E6U

It has learning ,macros and pre-programmed. Addition benefit is you can hide equipment behind closed doors.

Very easy to set-up and has good WAF because she can use it easily.

You can easliy map volume on all devices( screens) and have one macro button to power off or all devices.

Hope this helps ;)

Interesting - is it PS3 compatable?

Pronto 9200

Just an update on the program-ability of the Pronto 9200.
Spent a couple of hours on programming and was able to get all devices working and built basic macros to set power state and inputs for all devices.
Was not able to complete everything I wanted to program on the unit.
Could not figure out how to get channel favorites associated with a particular channel number on the set-top box. Also have to figure out how to add more favorite icons.

All in all, this is a very powerful remote control. With the right person doing set-up I'm sure it will do most anything. Learning commands from an existing remote is very straight forward. I find the configuration software is very unintuitive and caused a lot of wasted time to figure out how to fine tune. The database sucks as the model numbers of the device is not listed and lot's of trial and error to find the correct codes. Unit feels great in hand and buttons click nicely.
The screen is clear and easy to read.
Have not yet set-up the RF and USB Dongle (coming soon).

Bottom Line: Is this remote worth it's cost and hassle to program?
I am unable to decide yet. But this is obviously a huge leap over harmony.:)

For what it is worth; I use a Harmony 670. Works w/ all of my schtuff and is easy to prog. just plug into PC w/ mini-USB and follow the onscreen set-up. It doesn't do RF. Sounds like there are a lot of good options out there, and better than the 670, but for the $ this remote does a great job. My 9, and 7 year old kids use it w/ no problem... Once set-up there is one touch buton to change all of the setting for Music, Movie, Sat, Other (set-up for Wii).

Good luck and happy shopping, keep that wife happy (worth every penny :)) and you may find you like the convienience...

One more thumbs up for URC RF20 + blaster pack. I set up 8 of these remotes at my in-laws home in one evening and that included learning some remotes from top to bottom because the IR codes were unavailable. They had some old TEAC equipment. I'm not sure how well the Harmony's work with old equipment.

My parents use a URC RF20 with the blaster and RF is rock solid.

I use the old URC automator for my HT and an RF20 + blaster for a TV in the kitchen. My RF also never misses a beat. I have the dish network VIP722 and I can control everything with the URC in the kitchen while the DVR is back in the bedroom.

My next remote will be an MX model from URC...what can I say, I'm a customer for life.

can learn and emulate the PS3 controller IR commands.:)
OEM PS3 remote transmits via bluetooth and not IR. To use a universal remote (love my harmony btw), you would need a USB IR receiver plugged into the PS3, ie. Nyko PS3 remote comes with such an IR receiver that will then work with a universal.

Interesting - does the PS3 Bluetooth, do anything besides remote control?

The reason I ask is that my new laptop has an integral Bluetooth, and it might be interesting to so if I could control the PS3 with it.

They work fine- they learn codes just like any other remote. However, the name of the function should be the same as what's on the remote. People making up names for buttons makes it impossible for anyone to see the codeset and have any idea what they are, so they learn their own codeset, which then goes into Harmony's database and makes it harder for their people to verify the validity. This means it takes more time for that codeset to be available.

I'm leaning hard towards pulling the trigger on one of these. Is the Nyko still the ps3 solution?

IOTW I gotta find me something to do universal with. Problem is I got of non standard components like an HD tuner, a PJ and a PS3 so my receiver looks like a no go. I was considering a used logitech harmony, but thought I might see what you guys got going.

I need something I can program for 1 touch operation.

I know it's simple, but hey it beat the constant what's the best speaker/receiver questions. :)
My wife loves my Harmony One from Logitech though she can't stand my gear ...
