JUST WONDERING WHY AND WHAT ADVANTAGE GETTING SEPARATES WOULD BE. I AM CONSIDERING WAITING ON UPGRADING MY YAMAHA RXV-1000 UNTIL THE NEW DENON OR ONKYO ARE RELEASED. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE TWO HDMI OUTS. SOME PEOPLE ARE SUGGESTING THAT i GET A PRE/ PRO AND AN AMP. WOULD THAT BE A BETTER SET UP. WOULD IT IMPROVE THE SOUND IN MY bP 2006'S?

Take your Caps off. :D

If you need HDMI, then right now a receiver is the way to go.

With your speakers I don't know if separates would make a sonic difference.

One of the benefits of separates is the flexibility of upgrading one component at a time without the worry of disturbing or downgrading a feature or power of another.
While I am considering my next upgrade to be a Pre-pro to replace my Yamaha RX-V1500 to mate up with my Emo LPA-1 ( Umm, Yamaha, are you listening?); it's hard to dispute the cost effectiveness of simply going with a receiver.

And, and yeah, turn of the caps.

If you want a good receiver and can wait till the holidays, Emotiva will probably have a new receiver out, and if, it will be killer.

All have separate power supplys , to start with . Not just one in All , like a reciever .

If there are meaningful advantages to separates, they were lost on me. I recently switched from separates to a receiver. I like the receiver better. Fewer wires, less complexity, less expensive, more convenient. I don't play my home theater loud enough to cause bleeding in my ears, however.

Another thing to consider is the type of speakers, you have! IMO most efficient speakers with easy to drive loads(8 Ohm) need less power. However, less efficient speakers OR power hungry speakers need more power to make them happy, but this can also depend on how loud you listen to your system. I also like the easy to use factor of using a receiver. So later if more power is required, then add the amp, just make sure the avr comes with pre outs.

Just my 2 cents.:)

THANKS i will take the CAPS off!!!

all of your suggestions
are great I think based on the info that I can live with a single receiver and if I find the power lacking I can then go get an amp. So now i just have to choose a receiver (with two hdmi outs) if you care to add your suggestions.
Also I may be missing out on the drunk and stupid references but I must say i do enjoy the odd cocktail and more often than not it leads to two or three or... well you get the point. Cheers.
