If my television or monitor is capable of accepting direct Component Video signal, or for that matter any video signal, what are the reasons for or advantages of running the video signal through an A/V receiver or PrePro? I understand that an AUDIO signal may require processing for multi-channel distribution, but why the video input? Thanks for your help and advice.

The only "advantages" would be possible ease of switching between viewing equipment & being able to terminate multiple component video cables in the event that your tv only has 1 component video input.
