Hopefully what you say will come to pass. Obviously this is a good thing, and only time will tell how good a thing. It is clear that Sound United got a massive life line, as they were headed to oblivion. I was very encouraged by the speaker's repeated reference to good quality supply lines. It has been my hunch that Sound United have been shopping in the cheapest, and also likely suspect markets, for supply. This leads to poorer quality goods and when you provide appalling warranty service on top of it, you are headed for oblivion.
My one concern is that Harmon since their acquisition by Samsung have been very active in vehicle entertainment products. They now have a degree of dominance in that very lucrative market. So I hope the home audio and AV business gets the attention due. This in terms of dollar generation is a smaller market.
Only time will tell, but things have reached a very low point for Sound United and they only have one way to go and that is up.
I would caution that there will not dig themselves out of the massive hole Masimo dug for Sound United overnight, so we will have to give Samsung/Harmon a few years breathing space before passing judgment, unless things continue to slide. Destruction always outpaces building. So we will have to be patient and watch with interest. One has to be optimistic as Sound United was running out of road with not many rescuers in sight. So, this development has to be regarded as positive.
