Why is Audioholics.com trying to perform unsolicited downloads on Safari?

I've started getting a message occasionally from Safari that Audioholics.com wants to do a download, which I initially didn't allow. After getting the message several times I allowed downloads just to see what happened. The downloaded files are named index [date & time inserted].html. The files are 3KB and appear to be empty. I have subsequently disabled downloads for this site and deleted the files.

Perhaps coincidentally, the download requests seem to coincide with an Mac OS upgrade to Catalina 10.15.3.

Does anyone have any information about this new Safari behavior?

I am not running Catalina, but have been using Safari to read audioholics for several months and never had that behavior.
