Whole Home Audio Setup

New to the forum and a beginner audio/home theatre enthusiast. I am looking to setup up my older home for whole home audio. I would like to use an Echo Dot in each room(possibly mounted in the ceiling) connected to speakers I was thinking about putting in the ceiling. Would like to be able to play music in one room from the Echo Dot, and have the other rooms not play the same music. Look to have this feature in the living room, kitchen, master bedroom, and possibly the covered porch area. I am thinking that I would need an amp for each room and speaker set, but am unsure. Running wiring, cabling etc. wouldn't be too much of a problem as the ceiling is open right now, because of some AC work being done. Any help on this process would be appreciated. Would like to keep costs down, but quality is still high on the list.

Once this project is taken care, the next steps will be working to convert an extra living room into a movie room/game are for the kids.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

You should consult a specialist for such a complicated system. HT Direct might be a good place to start.

IF you want to use in-ceiling speakers, use a different source that works with the Echo- the sound from those isn't as good as using a better source and I know this because I have one and connected it directly to my Yamaha MusicCast before comparing the sound from it streaming the same music. It doesn't sound as good as Bluetooth or AirPlay, either. The thing that makes them attractive is their price and the fact that you would be able to use them in each room independently or as a group- haven't heard how well they synchronize the music, though.

Some questions:

What is your expectation for sound quality?

How loud will you pay the music?

What are the room sizes and how are they furnished?

Could/would you spend more if the sound quality is much better if the streaming device has similar abilities?
