I have denon 3805 receiver, without HDMI.I have a lower price blu-ray player, that works real good.Only thing,it does not have 5.1 audio out,it only has HDMI,so I have the HDMI into my 1yr old 67'' DLP samsung TV.I have audio useing digital cable from the blu-ray to my Denon receiver.
Now if I want better sound,I need to get a better blu-ray player, with 5.1 audio out, and dts,and a good bass management system.
My other choice, would be to upgrade my receiver, where than i could just HDMI to the blu-ray and tv.THX

Personally, I don't find the new lossless codecs (e.g. Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA) to represent that big a difference from the ones that you can get with your current system (e.g. Dolby Digital and DTS). In other words, if you are going to buy new equipment simply to get those, then you might want to reconsider.

If you are set on getting either a new reciever or new disc player to get those lossless codecs, then my vote is for a new receiver.
