Which way is better?

I am trying to figure out where to put my front speakers. I can either put them on top of a cabinet next to the TV (This would put them about 24" off the ground with the actual speakers about 4' off the ground) or on the floor next to two towers that flank my TV. They would then be about 3-4 feet off the side of the TV. Also, if I put them on the floor my right front would be firing (partially) into the side of my couch. Thanks in advance for your help.

Each front speakers should be atleast 18" away from the side of the TV for a correct soundstage and at the same level as your ears, when seated.

Now you can play around keeping these as a optimal value and adjusting as per your setup and need.
