I am able to buy a Klipsch ksw-12 for around $215.00 . Is there anything else out there that would sound better for a similar price (within $30)?

Larry,

That's a good deal on an entry level sub. Here's the specs.
http://www.klipsch.com/product/product.aspx?cid=55&s=specs
35lbs
The only other 12" subs you'll find that may be a tad better, but at a slightly higher price are the BIC V1220 and Cadence XSUB.
http://www.bicamerica.com/subs_specs.htm 42lbs
http://www.cadencestore.com/ProductCart/pc/homeaudio_detail.asp?idcategory=16&idproduct=192 (49lbs)

I list the weights because usually the heavier the unit, the better the build quality, and the heavier the magnet and amplifier. I have a Cadence and IMO it can't be beat for the money, although I've heard great things about the BIC.

wow, that cadence sub is almost 50 lbs, Buckeye is right, probably a quality sub...but only concern is that it only go down to 25hz, but for the price sounds like a really nice sub the range is its only downfall, but like I said for that price, who cares

Thanks for your advice guys....I will also look into those other subs because I think the Klipsch may be sold out in all the local stores....I own the BIC center channel (with the 6 1/2's) and like it.

25 isnt to bad. Much more above it then below it. Of course if its 25Hz@ 80db then its not much use either.

the klipsch only goes to 26, and its power rating is far to hard to even understand...
