There shouldn't be. A good component from a good company, transparent.

I am tempted to think the same with my very limited knowledge. I don't think that my speakers def tech mythos ones and eight will really show difference between the two. Even though I hope to upgrade speakers one day and hopefully have a dedicated entertainment room - that will not be until few years from know- and then I can get the flagship model which I am sure that features and the technology for sound and video would have advanced considerably. Am I on the right track here?

The Denon AVR-3808CI is a top notch receiver and worthy of it's price ($799 and $725 for an open box).

The Marantz SR7002, and the SR8002 are also excellent receivers for their asking street prices (acessories4less), with great sound quality and solid buid.

Can't go wrong with any of these three.
