I'm planning to get a new receiver for my home theatre. I like to get some suggestions from you guys before i unload a chunk of money on it. Which one of the 2 followings receivers do you prefer and why?

The first one is the Kenwood VR-7070. All the specs can be found here. http://www.kenwoodusa.com/product....Id=2532

The second one is the Pioneer VSX-D912K, which is listed as the top editor's pick.

First of all, I'm using booze speakers and I would like to know which of those receivers you prefer. I'm not sure if the Kenwood was too old to be rated/reviewed on the Cnet site or if it was not up to par (quality wise) amongs the others on the editors' top home audio section.

The kenwood have a THX certification while the pioneer have the MCACC, which basically sets them apart. Thanks for reading, hope to hear comments soon!

Hi Shrimp,

I'm also in the market for a new one. I have also been looking at the pioneer. My gut tells me to go with either an Onkyo (501 or 601) or Karman /Kardon (AVR-230). I'm not sure yet. I believe the quality will be best with an Onkyo or H/K. I don't think Pioneer is up to speed (maybe in their ELITE series.) Reviews of the kenwood look bad to me. Burning up, etc. Have you considered the Onyo's or hK's? Auto calibration is a feature you seem interested in, but really isn't necessary. The fact that you are even interested in these forums dictate that you are interested enough to set up your equipment manually (plus get better results.) Let me know what you come up with.
