Which Receiver for the Speakers

Hi. I need a receiver to power my paradigm CT 110 5.1 speakers and Velodyn Impact 10 subwoofer.

The paradigms take approximately 70w max. The subwoofer 250w dynamic and 150w RMS power (what does this mean exactly?). I was thinking about the pioneer VSX 1019 receiver. But this produces 90watts continuous power per channel.

Should I get a more powerful receiver? And if yes, which one?

Thanks for the advice?

paradigm's 110 aren't very needy speaker so most avrs will do, however few things:
I'm not huge fan of Pioneer NONE Elite models, since their power is highly over-spec'd - checkout their power consumption - numbers don't match...
accessories4less have good selection of refub Marantz and Onkyo units which both will service you well. Don't hunt for ALL bells and whistles, but carefully choose ones you need.
Whats the budget anyways?

p.s: paradigm's 110 rec x-over point is 120hz which is quite high and will make your sub easily locatable, so you are pretty much forced to put in front.

Thanks for reply. I am looking for a mid-priced 7.1 system. Something less than 800 USD. I would like if it can attach an I-POD directly without needing a separate docking/attachment station.

I would get that AVR-2310.

You can connect any iPod to most receivers by using their front A/V inputs, but there is almost NO installation of a receiver which has the receiver on top of a rack/shelf to accomodate top-insertion of an iPod. So, manufacturers don't make them. You can get an external iPod dock for the Denon, then put it where you can actually get your iPod into the dock - next to the recevier, or on top of your equipment rack. With the dock, which will fully support iPod functions on screen, it's under $800.

Another vote for the 2310. That's a nice receiver.

Hi thanks for the advice. I can get a Yamaha RXV 765 for 400 euro. The cheapest I can get a Denon 2310 is for 650euro. Do you think that the Denon is 250euro better than the Yamaha?
