Seeking advice on which amp to purchase for my klipsch wf-35 HT. SHould I go with just the xpa-3 for all fronts or go for all 7 channels with the UPA-7? Speakers will be running on Denon 3311CI without until I decide which to go with. The surrounds (ws-24) are rated at 75w, and forgive me for my ignorance here, would hooking those up to an amp even make a difference? thanks in advance for any info you can give.

I think you will be happy either way. Klipsch speakers tend to be very efficient and most do not require a boatload of power. I'd say go with the XPA-3 if you think you might upgrade your speakers to something less efficient down the road. If you listen to multichannel music, I'd say go with the UPA. Sorry I don't have a definitive answer for you. Both are good options. You can always call or e-mail Emotiva customer service and ask which choice would benefit you most. They are very helpful and won't just recommend the more expensive option unless it is a better fit for you.

Those speakers are 97db efficient. My opinion is you'd be wasting your money - the 3311 should have more than enough power to play those as loud as you want with little or no clipping - and certainly would not be noticeable if they do clip. Your ears would likely hurt at that level.

The only case for adding an external amp is if you have a very large room.

Thanks for the input. The room is roughly 18 x 35 narrowing to 12x18, one long stretch. But theater portion will just be in the 18x35 portion. I thought the denon could handle more power than my ears could take for any extended period. Although , I've played the drums for about 20 years so my hearing may not quite be what it used to, i may have to blast it.
